He spends all the spare time his life affords
Pumping himself up on internet message boards
I can't see how telling the masses
How scintillatingly fantastic
He is will win him any awards

You tell me: “she's not like that”
But then, she's cherry-picked you for her gang
You have some useful function
And she'll subtly apply her suction
While I'm not even worth looking at

So many people I've previously met
Blank me the next time I see them
I can't think what I do to lose their respect
It must just give them a power kick, I guess...
You don't have to blow my candle out to make yours burn
Or break me down to restore your self worth
You don't need to shout me down to make your voice heard
Or hound me out to regain your patch of earth

Well, I would have liked to have been friends
But still, their rejection doesn't have much effect -
I never claimed to be anything, ever
And in any case, they could never
Hate me as much as I hate myself.
