‘You Made Me Let Go'

You know all the evil little things that they do and say
Just to fuck your head up in some way?
I was regularly such effortless prey
Back in sadder, darker, more hopelessly lost days

Now, each and every bitter, gurning face
Is airbrushed to moderation in this blissed-out haze
And for the first time, I do not feel afraid,
Freaked-out or disturbed by the human race

I didn't know what hope was until you opened my cell
I didn't know what life was ‘til you lifted me from hell
I didn't know what love was until you made me feel well
I didn't know who I was until

You made me let go of myself
You made me let go of my senses
You made me break out of my shell
You made me let down my defences
You made me let go of myself
You made me let go of my senses

And now the agony has ended

I always treated others in the same way
That I would have wished to have been treated, which made
Me an unwitting victim for those with the sole aim
Of using a soft target on which to take out their hate

So, the next piece of ‘ruthlessly driven' scum enters the frame
Who doesn't give a fuck what he does to break up the game
And deliver us back to depression and pain
And he would have managed – yesterday
