‘The One About The Clown With The Gouged-out Brain'

Did you ever hear the one about the clown with the gouged-out brain?
His kind nature was such that he'd gladly shoulder others' blame
So, how can someone so apparently kind, level-headed and sane
End with nothing but psychological scarring to their name?

Did you ever hear the one about the clown with the gouged-out brain?
He was enough of a soft touch to become resident scapegoat in any given power game So, how can an individual so reportedly selfless, caring and humane
End with no one but the ghosts of past tormentors back to torture them again?

Did you ever hear the one about the clown with the gouged-out brain?
He saw the inside of too many mental health wards to afford to consider shame
And for a soul so famously loving, gentle and tame
All he ever really knew was cruelty rejection and pain

Did you ever hear the one about the clown with the gouged-out brain?
